My Dinner with Andre Royo

This film was an intimate part of my life for almost a year—mostly because it was edited by my boyfriend, Faisal Azam, in our home. With all the action happening right under my nose, I ended up getting very involved with the post-production process (which you can read about in detail on Faisal’s excellent blog, Timecode) and had some hand in crafting the narrative as well. Initially providing feedback on rhythm, pacing, and structure, I watched many hours of footage with Faisal and director, Isabel Acosta—who, I have to add, is such a lovely person that I didn’t mind having her practically co-habitating with us for months.

In addition to offering my two cents when asked (or whenever I felt like interrupting), I cooked meals for all involved—a service I performed so dutifully that it earned me an additional credit on IMDb—and ended up a writer, co-producer, and voice over acting coach as well. Specifically, I wrote the intro and ending voice over material, the official logline, synopsis and other promotional material for the film.
